“Never lived in” Colorado log mansion for sale

Published March 3, 2012 by housecrazy

I don’t know what the full story is behind this massive 5,099 square foot log home in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, but it was built in 2007 – obviously with no expense spared – and the realtor says it was “never lived in”.

It is an estate sale so it was probably not a happy ending for the (former) owner/seller.

But this place is so magnificent, I had to give it some attention. (Not to mention that it is built from “Canadian full round log”.)

If you are a fan of log cabins, you would be in hog heaven here:

Starwood in Aspen

To say that I am a huge fan of John Denver is an understatement. My friends have nick-named my 2003 mountaintop wedding “the John Denver affair”.

My son is named after John Denver (Noe Denver).

I just love the guy. And his music… don’t even get me started!

One of my favorite John Denver Colorado songs is Starwood In Aspen (second only to the official Colorado state song: Rocky Mountain High).

mountain wonder – an artist lived here

This stunning mountain home located just west of Denver, Colorado seems to defy being categorized. The outside is linear and ranch-style – a bit of a mid-century feel – but also has some cottage-y elements with the decorative green trim and cupola-like thing jutting out from the roofline.

Rezoned and Repurposed: old school house conversion in Pine Junction

Published January 27, 2012 by housecrazy

About three years ago we journeyed to Pine Junction, Colorado to look at this little old schoolhouse that had been extensively remodeled and is now used as a private residence:

It was small – 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, just over 1,000 square feet – but we were smitten.

And who wouldn’t be? Especially if you are looking for a historic yet diminutive nest in the mountains, surrounded by ponderosa pines with easy access to the main highway.

Mountain Dome Home

Dome house in Conifer, Colorado, from: zillow.com

I came across a listing for this glorious monolithic dome house in Conifer, Colorado the other day and it looked awfully familiar. I swear I saw this house on HGTV at one point in time.

Anyway, it is for sale and it is AMAZING.

What is a dome home you ask?

Cliffside house in Evergreen

Published January 19, 2012 by housecrazy

I was surfing the listings in Evergreen, Colorado recently and this mountain-clinging house caught my eye:

You can see how it appears to sit on stilts and there is a boardwalk leading to the front door. Off of that is a wrap-around porch. I really wish the realtor had included pictures of the front of the house!

But we do get a peek at the spectacular view from this interior shot:
